Personally I didn't see a reason to have a smartwatch, I stand corrected. Aside from the basic necessity of telling time, this smartwatch comes with so many features that make day to day easier to manage.

Notifications:

From being able to filter through notifications (you can customize by app) and quickly viewing them or disregarding them. There is also a text messaging app which allows you to view most messages and respond with preset messages. The presets can be customized and you can even doodle!

Apps:

There are various apps that you can utilize and get through Samsung. You have some baked in ones like Spotify (that is really nice by the way) and others that can be downloaded. For Spotify, if you have a premium account you can play music from the watch directly! You can also download and cache songs which is pretty cool. There are the other health apps such as tracking your steps/calories/water intake/caffeine intake/heart & stress monitor/etc.

Customization:

You can download various watch faces and each have their own unique settings. The current one I am using has widgets that display the battery level, amount of steps, and the weather. This is in addition to the basics of the time and date. The bands are also customizable! Note, the picture of my watch has a custom band and a screen protector.

As a watch, once I replaced the band it truly felt like a regular classic watch. The apps and the features just make it awesome! I highly recommend you get one.
